Edwards was established back in 1969 as a fast and friendly heating oil distributor in Virginia and hasn’t looked back since. There is something about the phrase “last man standing” and that certainly is appropriate at Edwards. Starting small then expanding operations into the Cook, Ely, Chisholm, Hibbing and Grand Rapids areas over the course of 50+ years, adding a wholesale operation to supply the mining, transportation, construction, railroad, Great Lakes vessel operations in the early 80’s; then diversifying into retail convenience store operations known as Lucky Seven General Stores in the mid 80’s and 90’s and continuing on now; helped make Edwards and Lucky Seven a house-hold name. Trimark Industrial, a service arm of Edwards, was expanded to provide dust and ice control products and application in addition to worker safety supplies, lubricants, anti-freeze, and a Diesel Exhaust Fluid manufacturing operation for commercial customers was added in 2021. An especially exciting addition into the retail and commercial propane market was initiated back in 2012 and has filled a service void in the market.
We have not looked back, we look forward and we always welcome new opportunities, new challenges…. And new customers. We are the last man standing, one of the few remaining hometown energy companies that is locally owned and customer focused. Most other suppliers have headquarters that are out of the area or out of the state. And when ownership becomes more remote, the customer gets forgotten. Not here.
Our retail heating oil and propane service area has remained focused so that we can provide the same prompt customer attention that got us started back in 1969. Our wholesale operation covers a slightly larger footprint and services a 130-mile radius of Duluth. Our commercial fleet travels more than 2 million miles a year – taking care of our commercial customers’ needs.
We have never let price stand in the way of a relationship. We will work hard to out-service every competitor we encounter. We have reinvented ourselves over the years to stay relevant to the needs of our customers as is witnessed by the large number of legacy customers who have had their sons or daughters choose Edwards as their supplier of choice and who choose Lucky Seven and our PERKS!
